The Lost And Found
What makes us who we are? How do we distinguish ourselves from others? These questions regarding identity have bothered me all the time. We are different in the clothes we wear, the way we talk, and the objects we possess. However, identity is beyond that. It is an intricate web woven from the experiences we’ve had, the choices we’ve made, and the lifestyle we are living.
Book: Objects and Identity
Presented in a book from, the first part of the project showcases an investigation process of transforming the idea of identity into a physical presence. At this stage, each participant selected three objects that they think would best reflect their identity, interest, and personality. Following up with interviews with each object-owner on their identity and observations from others on them, this part of the project reveals the difference between self-recognition and objective observation.

Animation: The Lost and Found
Besides the physical forms of objects, how do we find the self? The second part of the project consists of an animation on a self-reflection poem, The Lost and Found. Portrayed in illustration, the protagonist confronts different kinds of emotional struggles during the process of self discovery. A series of these animations are collected to create the website which offers the site-users a variety of protagonists to explore, each of whom has different experiences and feelings about their life struggles. The online platform, a shared space that creates multiple paths to communication, outlines an expansive picture of what one can eventually find as one wakes up to who they really are.
